A Community Fundraising Event

Volunteers and members of Rainbow Women of Kenya (RWoK) and Artists For Recognition and Acceptance (AFRA-Kenya) have together with close friends and family taken up an initiative to support our own, Ms Anne and Irene Oloo and their family.

As you may all be aware, the twins mentioned above were involved in a terrible road accident along Uhuru Highway on Friday 21st September, 2012 at 4am on their way home after celebrating their birthday party. Unfortunately one of the twins by the name Irene Oloo did not survive, while Anne has been admitted at the Mater Misericordiae Hospital in South B with spine injuries. She’s already undergone two surgeries and with the heavy burden the family has been left with, in planning for the funeral of our friend, the late Irene as well as Anne’s pending hospital bills, it is our duty to step in and assist in any way possible since those two were part of us.

There is a page (The Hearty Friends of The Oloo Family) on Facebook where you will find regular updates on Anne and the funeral arrangements. We therefore call upon members of our community to rise up and help us raise money by sending their MPESA contributions on 0722619806. We sincerely thank you for your overwhelming support. This is to inform you that we are organizing an urgent fundraiser to support the Oloo Family. We will have a social gathering at the Gay and Lesbian Coalition of Kenya (GALCK) Community Centre on Saturday 6th October, 2012 starting from 2-6pm. We hope to use this event to raise more funds to help clear Anne’s medical bill. She is still admitted in hospital and might be there for a while to recover fully.

The fundraiser will have an entrance fee of Kshs.200/= We will provide snacks and refreshments and an artist within the community has volunteered to entertain the audience. We are open to artists and entrepreneurs to sell their wares as long as they are aware that at least 20% of all sales will go to supporting this worthy cause. For further clarifications, kindly contact Sylviah Kavengi on 0729958756. We’re therefore humbly requesting your support in standing in solidarity with the Oloo Family during their trying time, for it is in giving that we receive. We will keep you up to date with the progress on this planning. You are welcome to join us at GALCK on Saturday! God Bless You.
