What's in a name?

What is in a name? A tag for reference, a term to assign class or a cadre of society or a definitive term that espouses personal attributes. Whichever the case, we agree in the importance of having a name. A name is unique; it can only be ascribed to a person or a group. The terms transgender and Men who have sex with Men - MSM are often substituted, mismatched and parodied for meaning and motive in different contexts. Diversity is the spice of life and these two groups present the different dynamics of sexuality and gender diversity and must be appreciated for their differences in challenges and needs.

GALCK- Income generating activities empowerment programme

The proposed project intends to establish income generating activities [IGAs] by offering economic empowerment of sexual and/or gender minorities (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex LGBTI) persons in Kenya. This will be done through offering technical skills enhancement and entrepreneurial skills to the needy individuals with an aim of transforming lives.

GALCK- Call for Income Generating Activities (for LGBTI Members) Committee

The Gay and Lesbian Coalition of Kenya – GALCK, an LGBTI Rights and Welfare organization, is looking for members of the LGBTI community to set up a committee for the Income Generating Committee [IGA] which will seek to find individuals from the LGBTI community to aid in enhancing empowerment programmes within the community.

African society is notoriously religious that’s according to Prof. John Mbithi a renowned expert of religion in Africa. Surely the road to equality in Kenya has faced enormous difficulties because of oppressive laws, conservative culture and intolerant religious dogmas. Religious leaders in particular perceive it to be divine and moral imperative to push for a non- LGBTI tolerant society as a bulwark against perceived threats of same sex marriages.
