The Africa Regional Sexuality Resource Centre (ARSRC) – project of Action Health Incorporated announces the 14th edition of its annual Sexuality Leadership Development Fellowship (SLDF) Programme. The two-week residential course is scheduled to take place in Lagos, Nigeria from July 15th -28th, 2018.
The Sexuality Leadership Development Fellowship (SLDF) is designed to:
- Provide exposure to cutting-edge conceptual, theoretical, policy and programming issues in sexuality, sexual health, sexual rights and reproductive health;
- Create a better understanding of the interaction between sexuality, development and social justice thus reflecting on global and regional documents including the International Conference on Population and Development Programme of Action (ICPD PoA)/ICPD Beyond 2014, Fourth World Conference on Women Programme of Action and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs);
- Review sexuality and sexual scripts of adolescents and youth, girls and young women, women and men; and
- Facilitate the emergence of a new generation of leaders in the field through leadership development, teamwork, public speaking and advocacy skills to advance the sexual wellbeing.
Faculty and Training Methodology
The Faculty for the Fellowship is composed of a multidisciplinary team of experts in the field of sexuality, policy engagements, demography, program management, communication, advocacy and public health. The training approach incorporates a variety of participatory training methods that enable participants to acquire hands-on skills to start making a difference in their organizations. The sessions are structured to promote the sharing of ideas, team building and collaborative work amongst participants with the goal of nurturing relationships that last beyond the training period.
This course is designed for young professionals across sectors- public service, civil society activists, programme officers/ managers in health and social development organizations including media practitioners. Applicants should be aged 35 years or below. Minimum educational qualification required is a Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent and demonstrable experience/interest in the area of sexuality, sexual health and rights.
The course fee for the two-week programme is US$2,500.
